There's some buzz in the Bloghive after yesterday's UTOPIA meetings:
- Luke Marrott reports on the meeting in Orem.
- Thad Van Ry at Woods Cross Citizen responds to Rep. Urquhart's post on UTOPIA.
I'm expecting to see a lot more posts after the meetings tomorrow evening.
Jesse, We should put together a Utopia debate. That would be quite an event it seems!
I’d take on Royce Van Tassell of the Utah Taxpayers Association in a steel-caged deathmatch any day of the week. 😉
Jesse,
Maybe we could arrange a back and forth via the Internet.
I keep hoping that we’ll find a way for the Internet to significantly help improve political dialogue — rather than just facilitate louder and faster versions of the same old crap.
From your comments, I’d guess that you and I both think that the public could be much better informed about UTOPIA — though we likely disagree on what that information should be. A huge frustration for me is that people believe (media-aided) that elected officials are immune to reason and opposition. Most of the time we’re just looking for information (and we always love a good debate). I realize that I have tons to learn in this area, and maybe a little to offer. Let’s try to put something civil together.
Think about it. I’ll give you a call tomorrow afternoon.
Jesse,
That’s something I’d pay to see. 🙂
